MINING ENGINEER - KARIBIB /SWAKOP URANIUM

 

This role will be responsible for providing technical support and specialist advice with regards to the mining activities, while ensuring its compliance to the prescribed mine plan.

 

REPORTING STRUCTURE

 

This position will report directly to the Site Manager

 

Responsibilities

 

• Manage and monitor the mining operational functions and associated activities to ensure a cost-effective operation.

• Investigate problems and improve processes.

• Identifies, designs and implements best practices.

• Identify and implement relevant software applications.

• Design and establish drilling and blasting operations and continuously research new methods to improve these, in collaboration or consultation with all relevant stakeholders.

• Analyse drilling and blasting results and prepare relevant reports to assist in making decisions in order to improve the mining operation.

• Ensures that drilling and blasting operations are designed, planned and carried out in a safe manner and that the operation objectives are achieved on time within budget and without any adverse effect on the environment.

• To ensure performance audits of various explosives and assesses applicability to the mining operations.

 

Requirements:

 

• Grade 12 and a recognized B.Sc. (ENG) Mining Engineering

• Experience in hard rock open pit or underground mining environment

• Significant experience and understanding of loading and hauling techniques in large open pit mining operations.

• Valid driver’s licence

• Computer Literacy

• Strong analytical and technical skills in mining

• Solid working knowledge of mining procedures

 

 

 

PRODUCTION SUPERINTENDENT – SWAKOP URANIUM SITE

 

Lead a multi –disciplinary team to improve effectiveness and efficiency of the mining processes to ensure a safe and profitable operation.

 

Reporting structure

This position will report directly to the Site Manager

 

Responsibilities:

 

• Plan, direct and control the activities required to produce the short, medium and long term required production targets to achieve optimal efficiencies.

• Manage and optimize section resources availability and utilization

• Lead the section and ensure subordinates effectiveness

• Coordinate and ensure Safety, Health and Enviromental awareness and compliance on the mine

• Other related duties to support the team as required

• Provide assistance to the hiring of site employees.

• Engage and lead the mine operating teams in a Zero Harm, open communication, and continuous improvement culture.

• Ensure employees have a clear understanding of work objectives and expectations of performance levels.

• Ensure that direct reports are provided with the training required for their current tasks and future needs.

• Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports.

 

Requirements:

 

• Recognized Mining Engineering Degree or equivalent

• Open Pit Blasting Certificate

• Valid driver’s licence

• 10 years working experience in the mining discipline, of which 5 years should have been on a Supervisory or management level

• Supervisory or management experience is essential

• Solid understanding of open pit mining practices and equipment capabilities

• Solid working knowledge of mining procedures

 

 

SITE MANAGER-KARIBIB

 

This position will be responsible for the planning, execution, manage and lead a team of people on site.

 

Reporting structure

 

This position will report directly to the Managing Director.

 

Responsibilities:

 

• Day to day management of operations on site, ensuring that the operations are safe, efficient and cost effective.

• Regular monitoring and liaison with the client on the master/monthly schedule as required.

• Liaise with the client to ensure adequate labour and resources are available on site.

• Supervise, manage and motivate all site team including effective management of sub-contractor activities on site ensuring they are engaged, on target in line with the master schedule.

• Ensure the team is following standard operational standards.

• Control and monitor compliance with company SHEQ Policies.

• Continually develop knowledge of innovative mining techniques and products to enhance the productivity and cost effectiveness.

• Prepare and implement operational plans for the operations and monitor and report progress. (Daily Weekly and Monthly)

• Recognize and anticipate operational, technical and safety challenges, take action to prevent or control them, and seek continuous improvement.

• Contribute to business planning and company strategy to improve competitiveness, profitability and growth.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Mining Engineering

• 5 years’ experience at Section Manager / Mine Overseer level, preferably within an Open pit mining environment

• Minimum 2 years’ experience as Production Superintended

• Valid drivers’ licence

• Open pit mining experience essential

• Postgraduate or Maters’ degree in relevant discipline will be an advantage.

MINING FOREMAN – KARIBIB/SWAKOP URANIUM

 

Experienced Mining Foreman to manage shift in production, safely and cost effectively in an open pit environment.

Reporting structure

This position will report directly to the Production Superintendent

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the production shift team ensuring efficient operations

• Ensure that mining production targets, schedules and priorities for the Mining teams are safely achieved.

•  Plan organize and control mine activities.

• Ensure that a cost-effective operation while achieving planned targets.

• Ensure Mining teams are informed of priorities and any changes to priorities.

• Maintain safety and environmental systems consistent with business policies

• Regularly inspect the mining activities to identify and address any health and safety, environmental, production, equipment, and personnel issues.

• Collaborate with the Technical, and Maintenance, teams to efficiently execute mine plans.

• Engage and lead the mine operating teams in a Zero Harm, open communication, and continuous improvement culture.

• Ensure employees have a clear understanding of work objectives and expectations of performance levels.

• Ensure that direct reports are provided with the training required for their current tasks and future needs.

• Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports.

• Complete all time entry, vacation requests and scheduling

 

Requirements:

 

• Minimum Grade 12 Certificate.

• Open Pit Blasting Certificate

• Valid driver’s license

• 5 years of mining operations experience, of which 3 years must have been at Supervisory level

• Solid understanding of open pit mining practices and equipment capabilities

• Solid working knowledge of mining procedures

 

HME MANAGER-KARIBIB

 

This position will manage and lead a team of people in allocating workload and managing the day to day operations in the workshop. This includes total preventative maintenance, managing breakdowns, people management and budgetary/cost reporting.

 

Reporting structure

 

This position will report directly to the Site Manager

 

Responsibilities:

 

• Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice maintenance vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.

• Effectively delegate any maintenance issues to be resolved on each shift and small projects to the right skills in the team, planning and managing effective works.

• Manage the team to ensure machine availability.

• Optimise equipment according to standard procedure, enhancing performance and product quality, ensuring the achievement of all Key Performance Indicators.

• Manage the process of disposal of obsolete machinery, and equipment from gaining agreement to write off to physically removing it and its safe and lawful disposal

• Provide technical expertise to the team

• Identify and deploy the technical skill sets, resource levels and systems to deliver projects, including the engagement of external resources as required

• Stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the supply and demand of needed products and materials and advise others of any impact

• Develop, implement and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility

• Ensure that the function operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors

• Manage, coach and develop a high performing Maintenance team that meets agreed objectives, and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements

• Work as part of the management team to share ideas and improve operation, recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimise results and improve quality of delivery.

• Support, comply and ensure complicity with Health & Safety regulations, the Human Resources policies, Environmental standards, and all other Company policies and procedures.

 

Requirements:

 

• Mechanical Engineering Degree or similar qualification

• Minimum 10 years previous experience in earth moving equipment and workshop management.

• At least 5 years previous experience in HME supervisory or management position.

• Strong safety ethics with experience in implementing safety standards

• Strong focus on skills transfer/mentoring and training of subordinates.

• Experience in using purchasing software, will be an added advantage

• Sound experience in customer and supplier relations.

• Valid drivers licence

 

 

MAINTENANCE PLANNER-KARIBIB

 

Responsible for the long term and short-term strategic planning in the Maintenance department in terms of planning, resourcing, scheduling and co-ordination of all maintenance work and enhancing equipment reliability, through the most cost-effective methods available by minimizing risk and rework, as well as maintaining the HME Engineering KPI report, data capturing and distribution.

 

Reporting structure

 

These positions will report directly to the HME Manager

 

Responsibilities:

 

• Determine and monitor labour capacity in order to develop fortnightly work plans to maximise resource utilisation

• Establish and maintain sound long- and short-term maintenance plans and practices.

• Perform work order and preventative schedule consolidation and distribution

• Coordinate daily as well as weekly planning meetings related with maintenance

• Compile weekly master schedule for planned work

• Maintain weekly planning boards and comply to the plan

• Maintain workshop backlog and awaiting spares planning boards for job loading purposes

• Maintain and update a filling system for all maintenance and/or component control documentation

• Update spreadsheets and graphs to reflect KPI’s and statistics

• Daily reporting on overdue scheduled service and/or non-compliance to maintenance procedures

• Capturing of planned maintenance job cards

• Follow up and solve queries related to job cards

• Provide technical assistance for supporting entire on-site maintenance activities.

• Estimate costs, including labor, materials, and contract services, for each work order.

• Monitor and co-ordinate warranty claims with service providers and suppliers.

• Ensure compliance to all EVS and Client’s, Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures

• Other duties not listed herein, but which need to be accomplished to maintain safe and productive day-to-day operations within the workshop.

 

Requirements:

 

• A diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent

• Minimum 3 Years’ experience as Technician in a mining maintenance and/or planning related environment

• Must be proficient in MS Words, Excel and with integrated maintenance systems/ software’s.

• Solid understanding of open pit mining practices and equipment capabilities

• Solid working knowledge of mining procedures

• Valid driver’s licence

 

 

HME MECHANIC- KARIBIB

 

 Repairs, maintains, inspects, and installs machinery and parts. Completes diagnostic tests using manual tools and technological devices.

 

 Reporting structure

 

This position will report directly to the Maintenance Coordinator

 

Responsibilities:

 

• Performing all tasks safely with capability of performing and all procedures and policies set out by the employer.

• Ensure scheduled maintenance and repairs are completed within the required deadlines

• Perform emergency repairs on various types of machinery, including mechanical, electric and hydraulic; identify and replace worn or damaged parts in a timely manner.

• Coordinate requisition of parts as required for repairs and servicing within required deadlines

• Read and interpret diagnostic test results to identify mechanical problems

• Perform the overhaul of engines or engine components, axles, brakes, suspensions, transmissions, drive systems components and other assemblies and components required.

• Perform housekeeping duties in the field, workshop and any other work areas.

• Read and interpret diagnostic test results to identify mechanical problems.

• Maintains detailed records of each machine or vehicle, included any maintenance, inspection, or repair services performed.

• Perform standby duties on a regular basis or as required.

• Ensure compliance to all EVS, Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures

 

Requirements:

 

• Grade 12 plus recognized Mechanic Trade Diploma/Certificate

• 3-5 years’ experience as a maintenance mechanic for heavy equipment in the mining or construction environment is required

• Previous maintenance experience on the following earth moving equipment would be an advantage -  Komatsu, Bell, CAT, and Atlas Copco Drills.

• Must completely familiar with all safety requirements and standard operating procedures for the operation.

• Strong mechanical experience

• Ability to act competently in emergencies

• Organized and detail-oriented

• Valid driver’s licence

 

 

ASSISTANT HME MECHANIC- KARIBIB

 

Assist with repairs, maintenance, inspections, and installation of machinery and parts. Completes diagnostic tests using manual tools and technological devices.

 

Reporting structure

 

This position will report directly to HME Mechanic

 

Responsibilities:

 

• Assists mechanics with repairing and maintenance of equipment;

• Responsible for housekeeping in the workshop

• Performs safety inspections on equipments.

• Reports on work orders/requests, possible causes; estimated life span of components/parts, spares used, time taken and makes recommendations and suggestion to improve efficiency.

• Assist with planned and unplanned maintenance tasks within set time limits

• Assist with diagnosing electrical, electronic, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems on HME Equipment.

• Perform standby duties on a regular basis or as required.

• Attend monthly safety meetings.

• Perform other duties as required by the supervisor.

• Ensure compliance to all EVS, Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures.

Requirements:

 

• Grade 12 plus relevant recognized Mechanic qualification

•  Mechanic Trade Diploma/Certificate (will be an advantage.)

• 1-3 Years of experience as maintenance mechanic of heavy equipment in the mining or construction environment is required

PROCUREMENT OFFICER-KARIBIB

 

To execute the purchasing functions and processes with an efficient clerical, data and document processing control service and to ensure the timely and cost-effective supply of goods and services to the site.

 

Reporting structure

 

This position will report directly to the Management Accountant

 

Responsibilities:

 

• Perform routine procurement duties in line with prescribed policies & procedures

• Maintain communication with suppliers and end-users about order status, changes or cancellations;

• Responsible for order placement timing, supply / demand alignment, material replenishment and supplier performance

• Notify management of contract problems as they arise

• Monitors accounts in order to ensure payments are up to date

• Assist staff with queries and problems with procurement systems and processes,

• Maintain and update procurement records and generate reports on procurement and contract activity to meet organisational compliance requirements and provide access to procurement information. Liaise with store man to facilitate storage and distribution.

• Perform material inventory as assigned.

 

Requirements:

 

• Grade 12 with a Qualification in Procurement or Logistics/ in Supply Chain Management will be an added advantage.

• 3-5- experience in procurement environment.

• Experience in using purchasing software, will be an added advantage

• Experience in HME purchasing will be an advantage.

• Sound experience in customer and supplier relations.

• Valid driver’s licence
